Gorgeous Faberge

It's coming up to Easter so I had to share with you these beautiful interiors of the Faberge boutique in Geneva. Recently opened, this is a mix of modern sensual simplicity.

Jaime Hayon is the man behind the excellence of this gorgeous boutique, which is full of minimal shapes and forms and exquisite materials, including silk wall drapes, rare woods and Carrara marble. I'm also loving the tonality of neutral, silvered metallic shades used which brings light and luminosity into these interiors.

The furniture is typical of Hayons signature style with wooden finishes that are quite precious.  I particularly adore the ceiling pendants used which gives a hint of old world and glamour through their metallic shine.

Perhaps these interiors will get you in the mood to buy yourself a Faberge egg. ;)

Vincent Van Gogh

A few weeks ago I went to see the exhibition of one of my all time favourite artists, Vincent Van Gogh. It was truly a stunning, emotional and captivating exhibition which really explores deep into the amazing mind of this incredible artist.

His genius with ink turns out to be the theme of this show. The main event of this exhibition is the publication of his letters, with which nearly 900 survived. Extracts appear alongside 90 or so pictures and originals are displayed in vitrines, blown up on gigantic screens as if they were works of art, and indeed they are as they are frequently beautiful, impassioned and always eloquent.

What struck me most about these letters was the bond between him and his brother, Theo, as most of his correspondence was to him. Infact it is thanks to this impeccable bond with his brother that gave Vincent Van Gogh the strength and confidence to produce some of the most captivating and passionate paintings. To think his painting career only lasted 10 years and yet he managed to produce so many outstanding works of art.

Each painting is a breakthrough and an advanced act of praise, all signature styled with his vibrant colours and vivid brush strokes. Spring is definitely in the air when you head yourself down to see this amazing exhibition!

Below is a selection of my favourite paintings shown at the exhibition.

Roses, May 1890. This is one of my absolute favourites. I adore the white roses against the pale green wall but what strikes me the most are the electrifying brush marks that channel the flow of sensation. Beautiful.

The Olive Trees, June-July 1889.

Vase of Cornflowers, Daisies, Poppies and Carnations, June-July 1886.

Cypresses, June 1889.

Basket of Oranges, March 1888.

One of the many letters at the exhibition which shows his sketching in ink.

Breathtaking Interiors Around The World

Interiors Now is the new book from Angelika Taschen which features the first series on contemporary interiors from all around the world. With 400 pages of inspirational richness and diversity of styles, you'll find hundreds of fresh, amazing, exquisite, and interesting homes and apartments to feast your eyes on.

Here is just a small selection of some of my favourite and most inspiring images.
I love the interiors of this Italian apartment. Filled with precious frescoes and mixed with selective contemporary pieces of furniture, it really is a case of mixing the old with the new. Fabulous!

How cool is this apartment! I'm loving its slick contemporary style. Great designer furniture pieces and that open fireplace is stunning!

This is a gorgeous minimalistic space, the pureness and simplicity of this room is just divine.

Another simple gorgeous room. How stunning is that old antique vase? It blends in so well with the minimalistic interior and the dark windows........Lovely

What a pretty rustic looking room. The white stone wall and the wooden seating combine so beautifully.

This room is pretty unique with its organic shapes and open space, and that amazing view. This just oozes relaxation and calmness!

Today I'm Loving...

This beautiful collaboration between these two British lifestyle brands. Deluxe candle brand Jo Malone has joined with paint company Farrow & Ball, to create its first-ever collection of coloured candles, designed to create a scented ambiance and enhance any decor.

The five limited edition home candles come in the Jo Malone iconic candle fragrances: Lime Basil & Mandarin, Wild Fig & Cassis, Grapefruit, Pomegranate Noir and Blue Agava & Cacao. Each have been matched with a classic Farrow & Ball colour that is intrinsically linked to the unique inspiration behind each scent. Mmmm they must smell every bit as good as they look.

This exclusive, limited edition collection will launch at the beginning of April.

London Design Week 2010

London Design week kicked off on Sunday, showcasing the latest collections from over 400 international brands in the 83 showrooms at the Design centre, Chelsea Harbour. Full of great lectures, informed seminars and the opportunity to connect with influential designers, it really is the place to get inspired and be one step ahead.

The Design Centre really does represent the very best in interior design from some of the most exclusive brands all just under one roof, and a beautiful one at that! From fabrics, furniture, lighting, wall coverings, accessories, carpets and many more, it really is the most stylish place to be at.

As always I fell in love with so many beautiful fabrics and new products but here is just a taster of what the design centre has to offer. I adored Zoffany's 'Mosaic' collection, real understated chic, also another favourite of mine was Zoffany's 'Gustavus' wallpaper collection, which oozed elegance and simplicity. Porta Romana, as always never failed, showcasing the most beautiful objects. Zimmer + Rhode and Donghia had more amazing fabrics and Sanderson's Ione Collection by Maggie Levien was just exquisite!

I could go on and on but really you must see all of these gems for yourself and just head down to the Harbour! Here are a few inspiring images from the Design centre to get you into the mood...

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona

I recently came across these lovely pictures of the newly opened Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona. I absolutely adore the timeless elegance achieved by these interiors using the colour white confidently and mixing it with the Scandinavian sense of scale and clean lines.

Created by Spanish-born Milano-based architect, Patricia Urquiola, this hotel has an edgy yet chic feel about it which is just lush! I especially love the tropical and light atmosphere of the Blanc restaurant and bar (first picture), it is so dreamy and fresh...

Enjoy these images and have a fantastic weekend. I hope to see some of you at the design centre for design week kicking off on Sunday. Very excited!

Today I'm Loving..........

These adorable bright fruit bowls, aren't they just scrumptious? To think they are made from woven bands of waterproofed recycled paper! Rest assured, not only are they practical and pretty but they are extremely durable.

Wouldn't they make a striking centrepiece..........

Very Sanderson

Spring is in the air so keeping with the flower theme, let me remind you of a very exciting exhibition starting this week. I am sure many of you are aware but just in case for those who aren't, this simply cannot be missed!

To mark its 150th birthday, Sanderson will be exhibiting at the London's Fashion and Textile Museum, from 19th March-13th June. It will be showcasing the best of its archive as well as brand new collections.

Sanderson was founded by Arthur Sanderson in 1860 and for the last 150 years has been at the forefront of English decoration, responsible for the first coordinated collection of mass-production wallpapers and fabrics.

This is rather exciting and I just can't wait to go...............
