Tea Time!!!

Bank holiday weekend is nearly here so to get us in the mood lets sit back and think about having some afternoon tea. I'm not talking about any kind of afternoon tea but one with luxurious and glamorous surroundings which can only be the settings of the master himself, architect and designer David Collins.

The Palm Court at the Langham Hotel followed a lavish £80m refurbishment transforming it into one of the most fashionable places for tea and has also been awarded the Tea Guild Membership in recognition of its outstanding quality.

Full of plush fabrics and gold encrusted walls, relax on a velvet stool and take in the glamorous era you feel you have been transported back to. Choosing a tea has never been more difficult as there are 30 different types! If you think that is hard work try choosing a champagne with over 40 varieties.....Life can be hard work ;)

Here are some images to feast your eyes on...Ok back to work and I guess I'll make do with a Twinings breakfast tea for now!

Have a lovely Weekend :)

Cool Interiors

I absolutely adore these interior images that I found on the web, how cool are they?? I love the mix of precious velvets, accent colours, sculptural accessories and the different types of materials and textures used. So eclectic and yet so simple. One of my favourite aspects of theses interiors is the arch, it works so beautifully within the space giving that sense of openness. The funky lighting and furniture also gives it that extra touch and I'm loving that shiny flooring...

Its such a simple effect but yet pulling it off is not as easy as it looks! However I say give it try, be daring and create something young and fresh!

Kelly Does It Again

Here I am on a gorgeous sunny day admiring one of Kelly Hoppen's latest project, a country house in the heart of Cotswolds. The result? A charming and sophisticated mix of neutral shades, with a Japanese sense of order and harmony which is kelly Hoppen's signature style. Theses gorgeous interiors are also softened with creased neutral linens, unlined curtains and whitewashed floors.

Such beautiful simplicity creating a perfect relaxed environment where all you want to do is immerse yourself in such surroundings. Here are a few of my favourite images which really do all the talking.

On that note I wish you all a happy weekend with hopefully lots of sunshine. :)

Vintage Meets New

What happens when you mix authentic 1950's and 1960's pieces with new contemporary designs? You get very stylish and super cool interiors.

I came across these pictures in an Italian magazine, a country which oozes style  (ok so I am being a tad biased!). I was immediately drawn to these interiors for their effortless coolness in which the minimal essentials were used giving fantastic results. From the colour schemes to the vintage pieces, from the lighting to the artworks, it all complements each other so nicely.

Vintage and new, it simply is a match made in heaven which I had to share with you.

This is one of my favourites, I love the colour scheme in this room, the yellow accent gives it that extra lift. The lighting and the cushion complement each other so well, and that rug gives it some real depth and texture. Love it...

I love the vintage patchwork rug, really lifts the space up!

This is one of my favourite shots, gorgeous simplicity.

This wall panel from Dedar is absolutely fabulous!

These unique handmade glass door handles and cupboard knobs by Liam Carey. They are just exquisite, combining elegance with functionality. Together with his partner Carol they run the family owned business, Merlin Glass.

Liam Carey is an established designer and maker of high quality handmade glass where he specialises in bespoke architectural glass door handles and glass cupboard knobs where each piece is individually handmade. Last month I went to see an intriguing exhibition of one of the most influential and talented architect, designer and artist of our time, Ron Arad.

Showcasing a wide range of Arad's studio based works, unique and limited edition pieces, you really are in for a treat. Video clips at the exhibition also show the internationally acclaimed designer explaining his thought process behind each inspiring piece. This exhibition really is a place where you are self immersed into the world of this genius that defies categorisation.

A designer that is driven by his relentless curiosity about form and his experimentation with innovate materials and techniques. His sense of shape, form and curve bring new meaning and freedom to design, where he explores beyond boundaries.

Do not miss this exhibition but hurry as this ends on the 16 May and believe me you will be sorry!
