Mydeco Design Democracy Blog Awards

I was extremely excited when I received an email telling me that my Blog had been nominated for a Mydeco Design Democracy Blog award. I really only have you guys to thank as I am ever so grateful and really appreciate every single one of you who stop by, It means the world to me :)

I was asked to write about what 'Design Democracy' means to me. I feel there is no real definition but it is being able to  communicate your design ideas and actions in a totally liberal manner. Design your house how you want, express your opinions and share your inspirations, this is what Design Democracy is about.

My Blog is a place where I share all of my thoughts, where I can interact with amazing people and where I am free to be me and have no one tell me what is right or wrong.  It is where I bare my soul and am not afraid what people think. Design is my utmost passion and I am at my happiest when I am able to share this with people around the globe, bringing us all closer together for the one love we all share, DESIGN!

All of my influences come from daily surroundings, whether everyday life experiences, magazines, TV, books, websites, travelling, and more importantly the amazing blogs that I read on a daily basis, what would we do without them :) I am ever so thankful that design democracy exists!

Voting starts on August 1st till 31st August. If you have been enjoying my blog and I have inspired you in some way or another then please do click on the link below and vote for me, it would really make my day!

The Sleep Room

Morning all, sorry if I have been a bit absent from blogger land but have been a very busy bee finishing up all lose ends as I am officially going on holiday this Friday. This week is going to be manic but am very very excited to go to my beloved Italy to see my friends and family :)

A friend of mine recently asked me if I knew where I could find pretty French beds that look authentic. I don't know about you but I have always found it hard to find beautiful beds that give that reminiscence of authenticity. However a little light bulb did switch on in my brain as I remembered coming across The Sleep Room while reading through my beloved Elle Decoration magazine. They do such gorgeous beds that really do resemble the antique era but with a slight modern twist.

I am quite excited to have discovered this website as so is my friend. Now I am tempted to change my bed for one of these romantic choices :)

Happy Birthday To Me ;)

It's my Birthday today, so I am taking a break from the interior world. Birthdays are always a time where even though I am getting older I feel like a child and love to be thoroughly spoilt with lots of cakes, cards and obviously presents. It is also a time of great fond childhood memories, with each birthday having a special place in my heart.

It really is an excuse to never grow up ;) See you tomorrow my lovelies.

Urquiola Hotel

I have always been a fan of Patricia Urquiola and so was extremely excited when I came across pictures of her new designed hotel, W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island, Puerto Rico.

W Vieques boasts 157 stylish guestrooms and suites with private patios and balconies surrounded by the most mesmerising scenes of nature. Using the most influential design houses out there from  B&B Italia, Moroso, Flos, Kettal,  Agape. Kartell, Established & Sons, Foscarini, Emu to name but a few. Three years of hard work have paid off for creating such a unique hotel, an absolute one of a kind.

This really is a place to relax and unwind, again Patricia has exceeded all expectations by producing another work of art. I am totally in love :)

Madeline Weinrib

The weekend is officially over but it has taken me sometime to get back into the swing of things. I am still feeling the effects of my pre birthday celebrations, drinking games are definitely not a good idea with me ;)

Back to what I love best, I found these gorgeous cushions from designer Madeline Weinrib, she creates the most exquisite cushions and rugs. I am loving the Ikat cushions at the moment, they have made such a come back in the design world which I am very happy about.

Check out her website where there is a whole wide selection of fantastic pieces from this very talented designer. Here is a selection of my favourite from the Ikat collection. I think they would look great for summer and can just visualise them in a carribean beach house with crisp clean white interiors......oh I do think it's time for a holiday soon ;)

Classical & Modern Come Together

I am loving these images that I have come across today. These cool interior shots portray an eclectic mix of classical pieces with a hint of modernism. Certain furniture pieces are very modern in shape but have beautiful classical finishes. It is such a beautiful combination that works really well. Looking at the second image, that bookcase is a great example of this, stunning!

It is the latest trend that is taking the italian interiors world by storm as all the craftsmen are adopting this style. I personally love it and think that it makes any interior look that extra special. Enjoy and have a lovely weekend!

These gorgeous and most innovative tiles from Welbeck. They are Britain’s leading handmade tile company which produce truly exquisite products. I particularly love the vintage and platinum collection, great for creating a personalised and original wall feature.

Have a look at their selection of tiles, I just absolutely love them!

Exclusive DVF Suites For Claridges

Morning all hope you had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed this great weather. We went to a lovely barbecue on Saturday, great food, company and sun, what more could one ask?! After a nice relaxing break its back to work.

As you are all aware I am a huge fan of Diane Von Furstenberg and I have been waiting in anticipation to see the designed suites at the Claridges Hotel. Well finally a couple of images of the two suites have been released on the Claridges website and more over the internet, which I am so thrilled. It is exactly what I was expecting but better, her trademark prints and colour surrounded by classical pieces of furniture. Absolute lush!

Enjoy people and I hope you are as excited as myself :)
